In my opinion, the worst Oasis album and the only Oasis album to not be a truly good album. The singles for this album were absolutely fantastic, except for She Is Love, and it had a wonderful gem there near the end of the album with Born On A Different Cloud, but the rest of the album is boring to tears, and clearly the bottom of the barrel for Oasis tunes. What's a bigger crime is that some of the b-sides for this album were wonderful, like Shout It Out Loud. Discuss.
(I love Oasis as much as all of you, but I don't really think we've discussed them much with an objective point of view.)

personally i love Heathen Chemistry and think it's one of their best. A return to form for me.
alot of people went off Oasis after the release of SOTSOG, but to me they were just band wagon jumpers and the album sorted out the real fans from the media hyped fake ones. thats how i see it in the UK anyway.
the lyrics on 'force of nature' are a nod to meg mathews, noels ex missus. listen to it and bear in mind that she was a gold digger and the song makes sense. great stuff.
'she is love' i had played at my wedding in 2005, when my girlfriend walked up to me to take the vowels to this tune, we both had tears so it holds a special memory to me. same with 'song bird', when you are in love then certain songs make sense and this liam penned tune makes sense to me. he sings it so sweet and i love it.
'probably all in the mind' is a stone roses sounding blast, pure 'manchester' groove. a nod by the band to their mentors.
'hung in a bad place' is Gem's first offering and fits the album well.
'better man' is probably my least fav on the album. saying that, i still think its great but i prefer the others, including 'a quick peep'.
as for the singles, all great _________________

I think the whole "return to form" thing is part of the problem. I loved Standing On the Shoulder of Giants. Loved it. Despite how much it gets trashed by critics, I'd say it was at the very least much better than Be Here Now, and coming close to being as good as the first two. The way they did something totally different and experimented was fantastic, and I wish they had continued down the path of becoming a more experimental band [see: Radiohead, Blur]. Instead we wound up with Heathen Chemistry, an album full of Oasis trying to do the same thing they did before they actually tried to progress their sound. It has some great songs, but as an album it really leaves you wishing it were more, something more original, something bigger. Don't Believe the Truth is great because it IS very different. It's much more raw and modeled after old school rock and roll, like the Rolling Stones. Still, I can only wonder what would happen if they continued down the path of Standing... _________________ |

And Stop Crying Your Heart Out is one of the most beautiful song ever written. A wonderful love song that gives me shiver down the spine, and I love singing it... Liam at his best, as in Pass Me Down the Wine or The Quiet Ones.
Heathen Chemistry is also one of my favourite album. And Better Man is just pure, good, perfect rock n'roll !!! _________________ I suppose I do get sad, but not for too long. I just look in the mirror and go "What a fucking good looking fuck you are." And then I brighten up. (Liam Gallagher)

What!? Kid A was amazing, and opened the flood gates for the best period of their career. Their most recent album was one of their best, and the one they're working on now is arguably the most anticipated album being made. They've hardly self destructed, seeing as how their artistic credibility has gone through the roof sine Kid A.
As for Blur, their experimental albums didn't destroy them so much as Graham Coxon leaving the band. And while they might not be in the spotlight as much as Radiohead, 13 and Think Tank are two of the most underrated albums I know of. Besides, Gorillaz are doing better than all 3 bands at the moment. _________________ |

"being made" as in being made now. _________________ |

It's all right. They're worst album, but it isn't bad. _________________ If you're troubled and you can't relax...

I don't know, I've always switched between HC and SOTSOG for my leats favoirte album, depending on many things. I also loved the experimentation on Standing, but there were songs (I Can See A Liar, anyone ?) that just couldn't compensate enough for masterpieces such as Gas Panic! and Roll It Over.
On HC, I absolutely love all the singles, including She Is Love (top 5 songs on the album for me, honestly), and there's a couple of other great tunes too - I personnally LOVE (Probably) All In The Mind and Hung In A Bad Place.
There's more songs I really like on HC than Standing actually, but HC was so deja vu and predictacle, compared to Standing which was completely fresh and different. Right now it's SOTSOG, but it'll probably change in a few weeks.
