Be Here NowAlright, we all know that it's one of the most underrated Oasis album (I could say the same thing for Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants and Heathen Chemistry). But... WHY ??? D'You What I Mean as itself, could resume the word 'rock n' roll'. And what about top tunes like Magic Pie, All Around the World (fucking anthem by the way), Fade In-Out ???? Give your thoughts, people !!!

Be Here Now was my first Oasis Cd. I don't know why it's underrated.
But time's changing and there were invented new music genres so I guess this new music was just more interesting. (we all know thats very stupid.)
'My Big Mouth' is the best song ever made on this Album. It's so 100% of Rock 'n' Roll!!! and 'D'you know what I mean'. Wow!! It makes other Rock'n'Roll bands blow in the wind haha !

'Be here now' is pure class from start to finish. its a roller coaster of anthems and life defining tunes. i'm playing this album more at the moment than any other album

It's a fuckin' great album, Stand By Me is one of my top 5 favorite Oasis tunes no doubt about it.
It's not to underrated now though. It's kind of like Second Coming by the Roses, it's reputation has improved over the years.

Knowing Noel as I know him, I' m sure that, in fact, he likes this album. Have you ever seen him being modest ? Never. And he's fookin right because he's the best, BHN is one of his babies, he can't reject it !!!

I will agree that BHN does have some god-awful songs though. The album should have been much shorter. For instance, check out this track listing, which is cut down to the length of a normal Oasis album. Looks like you've got a perfect album right here:
D'You Know What I Mean?
My Big Mouth
Stand By Me
I Hope I Think I Know
The Girl In the Dirty Shirt
Don't Go Away
Be Here Now
It's Gettin Better
All Around the World

What really frustrates me about Be Here Now is what it COULD'VE been.
I mean, yeah it's really great to be able to say that Oasis have the best b-sides and all... But it's the albums that are important in the end, they are the ones people buy, they are the ones that are reviewed, and they are the ones that the band is known for. How many fucking amazing songs have Noel "wasted" on b-sides ?
My point of view is : Be Here Now was probably the most anticipated album in Uk history. Oasis were the biggest band in the country and BHN was supposed to be their landmark album. It would either elevate them to a godlike status (they still are to me though) on an international level or simply bring them down. And, as much as I love this album, it did bring them down. If Noel didn't get so excited to release all those fantastic songs as soon as he could, Be Here Now could've looked like that :
1. D'You Know What I Mean?
2 My Big Mouth
3. Headshrinker
4. Stand By Me
5. I Hope, I Think, I Know
6. Stay Young
7. Half The World Away
8. Don't Go Away
9. Talk Tonight
10. Acquiesce
11. All Around The World
12. The Masterplan
And that, my friends, would have been even better than Definitely Maybe or Morning Glory. Imagine how different things could've been in 1997 after that release. The reaction from the public. The reviews. Oasis would have been elevated to U2 status.
That said, BHN is still amazing, and I can proudly say that Oasis have the best b-sides in the world. But only big fans of the band knows the b-sides.
That's my opinion on Be Here Now.

Be here now actually elevated Oasis into the biggest band in the world just through record sales alone. it sold so many copies so fast it was on an epic scale.
look at oasis nowadays, they sell their gig tickets so fast that they easily the biggest band in the world. their last tour sold faster than any other band ever.
anticipation was SO high for be here now, whatever they released wasn't going to be good enough.
10 years on, we are realising that it's one of the best albums of all time and pisses all over the best work the beatles/coldplay/rolling stones/u2 could ever come up with.

As much as I love them, I have to disagree. Nowadays, they're not the biggest band in the world. In the UK, but not in the world.
Not the biggest, but without a doubt the best.

Seriously, I'm just confused why Noel chose Magic Pie over Stay Young. I know he didn't like the whole "Brit-Pop" vibe of Stay Young, but it's a better tune.

U2 has been the biggest band in the world for the past 20 years.

ticket sales show the popularity of a band. Oasis tickets sell quicker than any other band and thats a fact

Yes but they also generally play smaller venues, which means it takes a lot less time to sell out a show.

Knebworth, Finsbury Park...... need i say more

U2's last tour was the Vertigo tour, which sold out all 131 shows and was the second highest grossing tour of all time...
Don't Believe the Truth has sold about 4 million worldwide. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb has sold almost 10 million worldwide. (As far as total album sales go, U2 have sold about 170 million, whereas Oasis have sold about 50 million)
I will argue all day that Oasis is the far superior band, but there's no denying that U2 is bigger.

read up on Knebworth. so many people rang for tickets that the whole UK telephone network nearly went down.
to date, Oasis tours sell tickets faster than any band and thats fact.
as for U2, well they are a 'global brand' and sold out to be 'commercial' years ago. just like the rolling stones......

Well, it's not like they became popular by selling out. In my opinion, Achtung Baby is their best (and most artistic) album, and it was released pretty much at the height of their fame, and preceded one of the most ridiculously awesome and over-the-top tours of all time, the ZooTV tour. The Joshua Tree is generally considered their best and most popular album, and it's definitely not a sellout album. The 3 since Zooropa would be their commercial albums, but no one really considers them great anyways.
