I will agree that BHN does have some god-awful songs though. The album should have been much shorter. For instance, check out this track listing, which is cut down to the length of a normal Oasis album. Looks like you've got a perfect album right here:
D'You Know What I Mean?
My Big Mouth
Stand By Me
I Hope I Think I Know
The Girl In the Dirty Shirt
Don't Go Away
Be Here Now
It's Gettin Better
All Around the World |

What really frustrates me about Be Here Now is what it COULD'VE been.
I mean, yeah it's really great to be able to say that Oasis have the best b-sides and all... But it's the albums that are important in the end, they are the ones people buy, they are the ones that are reviewed, and they are the ones that the band is known for. How many fucking amazing songs have Noel "wasted" on b-sides ?
My point of view is : Be Here Now was probably the most anticipated album in Uk history. Oasis were the biggest band in the country and BHN was supposed to be their landmark album. It would either elevate them to a godlike status (they still are to me though) on an international level or simply bring them down. And, as much as I love this album, it did bring them down. If Noel didn't get so excited to release all those fantastic songs as soon as he could, Be Here Now could've looked like that :
1. D'You Know What I Mean?
2 My Big Mouth
3. Headshrinker
4. Stand By Me
5. I Hope, I Think, I Know
6. Stay Young
7. Half The World Away
8. Don't Go Away
9. Talk Tonight
10. Acquiesce
11. All Around The World
12. The Masterplan
And that, my friends, would have been even better than Definitely Maybe or Morning Glory. Imagine how different things could've been in 1997 after that release. The reaction from the public. The reviews. Oasis would have been elevated to U2 status.
That said, BHN is still amazing, and I can proudly say that Oasis have the best b-sides in the world. But only big fans of the band knows the b-sides.
That's my opinion on Be Here Now. _________________

Be here now actually elevated Oasis into the biggest band in the world just through record sales alone. it sold so many copies so fast it was on an epic scale.
look at oasis nowadays, they sell their gig tickets so fast that they easily the biggest band in the world. their last tour sold faster than any other band ever.
anticipation was SO high for be here now, whatever they released wasn't going to be good enough.
10 years on, we are realising that it's one of the best albums of all time and pisses all over the best work the beatles/coldplay/rolling stones/u2 could ever come up with. _________________

As much as I love them, I have to disagree. Nowadays, they're not the biggest band in the world. In the UK, but not in the world.
Not the biggest, but without a doubt the best. _________________

Seriously, I'm just confused why Noel chose Magic Pie over Stay Young. I know he didn't like the whole "Brit-Pop" vibe of Stay Young, but it's a better tune. _________________ If you're troubled and you can't relax...

ticket sales show the popularity of a band. Oasis tickets sell quicker than any other band and thats a fact _________________

Yes but they also generally play smaller venues, which means it takes a lot less time to sell out a show.
